Good news! Bookaza.com, those slimeballs selling illegal e-book copies of the Harry Potter books, LTDbooks.com e-books, and other e-books that they pirated, has been shut down. At last check, the site can no longer be accessed.
This is good news for the authors who wrote the books, as well as the publishers, since Bookaza was making illegal copies, never purchased the books for resale, and never paid publishers (or authors) anything from the sales. It's also good for readers, since heaven only knows what this guy was doing with the credit card info he'd collected, and let's face it, readers appreciate having good books to read, and would much rather the authors were getting paid for the work they did than some thief hiding behind a website.
Thanks to all the readers and authors who called the Snoqualmie police department, the Washington State Department of Revenue, and GoDaddy.com to voice their complaints against Bookaza and Henry Stewart.
Good work, ladies and gentlemen!
UPDATE: Keep an eye out for "Henry Stewart". A search for "bookaza.com" turned up results for other book sites with similar "membership" deals that also linked to bookaza, and that were also unaccessible. Chances are good this guy or some of his minions could come back with a new and similar scam.
