"Kerry's so much smarter than Bush! Bush's daddy's money's the only thing that got him into Yale!"
That's the sort of thing I heard often (or some variation of it, or some other snide sort of comment from Liberals in regard to Bush's intellect and his studies at Yale) during the run up to the November 2004 Presidential election.
Bush released both his military records and Yale transcripts, long ago and voluntarily. So the Liberal media and Democrats in general had ample opportunity to bash President Bush for his military and academic achievements.
Kerry avoided sharing his transcripts at any cost throughout 2003 and 2004. In fact, he outright refused. Just like he refused to release his military records. Now we see why.
Finally, well after the election, Kerry signed the necessary documents to make his military (and thus college) records public.
Well, BooYa! Seems Kerry isn't the great intellect Liberals thought him to be (for the record, Conservatives knew this all along).
The Boston Globe reported that Kerry had a 76 average his freshman year, and received four (4) Ds over 4 years at Yale (geology, 2 history courses and political science)
The New Yorker (in 1999) showed Bush had a cumulative grade average of 77 as a freshman, and received only one (1) D in 4 years at Yale (astronomy).
Both men improved their grades in following years and did pretty well their senior years.
Kerry's highest grade at Yale was an 89 (in political science). Bush's highest grade at Yale was 88 (in anthropology, history and philosphy).
The truth? Kerry is no smarter than Bush. In fact, transcripts show their GPAs were virtually the same.
Both men were 18 year old kids when they entered college, who focused more on sports and extra activities and girls than they did on their homework. And both men matured while in college and did better as seniors than they did as freshmen.
Neither Kerry nor Bush are stupid men when it comes to their intellectual abilities. Of course, Republicans never said Kerry was stupid or that he wasn't smart enough to attend Yale. It was Democrats who said Kerry was smarter, and that Bush was stupid and only got into Yale with his father's money.
The Kerry transcripts prove that the Liberals were wrong.
Again.
